What is your favorite thing to bake?
N: Pies, cupcakes and lemon squares. Crusts are my thing, so I’m told.
H: Cupcakes, probably. I always bristle when I hear someone describe cupcakes as a “trend”. Cupcakes are my lifestyle.
Who is your biggest baking inspiration?
N: Alton Brown (he’s the Bill Nye of food) and my mom (who taught me how to make St. Lucia buns).
H: I was also gonna say Alton Brown, who is my desperate foodie crush. But since Nora got there first, also Martha Stewart. In middle school, my classmates teased me by calling me “Martha Stewart, Junior” after I brought radish roses to a school potluck. I cried when I was 12 but now I can cook so EAT IT, JUNIOR HIGH.
N: Mouse. I
used to still love Basil the Great Mouse Detective, a vastly underrated Disney film, IMO.
Leslie Knope, Ann Perkins, or Chris Traeger?
N: Leslie Knope. Uber nerd, loves waffles, makes bad jokes.
H: Ann Perkins. Medical professional, graced with great friends, disastrously incapable of talking with children.
N: Admission: This list is going to make me seem old. Dustin Hoffman, Robert Redford, Cary Grant.
H: Anyone tall, dark, and wacky. i.e. John Krasinski, Lee Pace, Paul Rudd, BJ Novak.
Well, we both picked something we like (Hannah: cats; Nora: commas). But this joke was recently brought to our attention, and we like it:
What’s the difference between cats and commas?
One has claws at the end of its paws and one’s a pause at the end of a clause.
